I have taken over support of a site on Area51. The web
pages have a java script at the end of the page that is label
"tracking". It is collecting information
(statistics) about the browser, host, etc.. It stuffs all the information into a object
and then it looks like it writes the image to "http://stats.directnic.com/tracker.php";
I am guessing there is a host file that direct this to a
local site.
My question: Is this really what it is doing and Is still required to if I need the statistics for the site?
